Price Your Egress Window
Pick your answers below and you will see the range our crew would give you over the phone for an egress window in Sioux Falls. The numbers come straight off our pricing page, and we do not make you hand over an email to see them.
A couple of things to know first. The starting amount is the work every egress job needs: sawing through the foundation, framing and heading the opening, a window that meets code, and the labor to install it right. The biggest swings come from things you can see standing in your yard, mainly how much digging the well takes and how easy it is for us to reach the wall. Also, the permit is not included. Fees around here run $150 to $600 depending on the city and the project value, so we list it separately at cost.
How your answers move the price
- The job type matters more than anything else. Cutting a new opening with a new well costs thousands more than putting a new window in an opening you already have, and a lot of people looking up egress windows really need the smaller job. Not sure? Measure your window: code wants 5.7 square feet of clear opening, at least 24 inches tall and 20 inches wide, with the sill no higher than 44 inches off the floor. Our page on a basement bedroom that failed inspection shows how to measure it.
- Your wall type mostly changes how we cut, not what you pay. We take block out one course at a time and wet saw poured concrete. We handle both all the time, and the header is the part that counts.
- Depth sets how much soil we move and whether the well needs a fixed ladder, which code requires past 44 inches.
- The well is a genuine choice. Galvanized steel costs less and tends to last 25 to 35 years in our soil before rust wins. Composite costs more on day one and does not rust.
- Access comes down to hours. When our machine can reach the wall, we dig in about an hour what takes two people with shovels most of the day.
If the range fits your budget, send it with the form and we will set up your measure already knowing the job. If it does not, our pages on new window wells and basement window replacement cover the smaller jobs, and our window well cost calculator prices those by themselves.
How much will we charge for your egress window?
Five short questions. Every figure comes from our own pricing page, so you see the same range you would get if you called our crew today.
Each answer ties back to a line on our pricing page. Your permit, usually $150 to $600, is listed on its own and billed at exactly what the city charges us.

Frequently Asked Questions
How did you come up with these ranges?
They are the figures on our pricing page: complete installs $3,500 to $6,500, new wells $1,000 to $3,000, basement window swaps $400 to $1,100, covers $150 to $600 and drainage $300 to $1,000. The tool starts with the cutting and window part of the job, then adds or takes away the well and digging based on what you pick.
Why is the permit left out?
The city sets that fee, not us, and we never add anything to it. It is usually $150 to $600 depending on where you live and what the project is worth, and it shows up as a separate line on your quote.
How close will this be to my real price?
Close enough to plan around. The job type, the depth and how easily we can get to the wall drive most of the cost, and those are what we ask about. What this tool cannot know is whether we hit rock while digging, find a buried utility line, or need an engineered header, and that is what our free measure visit sorts out.
Do you charge more to dig in winter?
Sometimes, and often we will suggest waiting. Sioux Falls code sets frost depth at 42 inches, so digging in January goes slowly and some days it cannot be done. Swapping a window in an existing opening is fine in any season.
